Holiday Horoscopes 2017

Horoscopes to Help You Heal for the Holidays

November is here and the madness of the holidays is upon us. For some people the holidays are a time for celebrating with good friends and family. It is a time for enjoyment and giving. However, for those experiencing loss, grief, pain, heartache, sickness and negative life encounters—this is a time to take care of yourself and work through the pain. Not everyone has families and not everyone can face the chaos. This is an especially hard time for those missing loved ones and dealing with grief of any kind.

The winter months can be so cold and depressing, they can make you forget your joy. Despite this, you can always start working through the pain with some wisdom, insightful knowledge, tools, coping skills, grief coaching and other forms of professional help.

In regards to planetary Astrology there will be a full moon on November 5th, which will be in Aries. This full moon is also known as the “Beaver Moon” as it’s a time for gathering and collecting—hibernating for the winter. This resonates with Aries who is almost always one step ahead of the game.

This will be a perfect time for you to chip away at the things that are bothering you and start to collecting positive things, actions and behaviours that enhance your life as opposed to that which brings and keeps you down. Peep your astrological guide for getting through the holidays below.

What’s Light for the Holidays: You have the ability to be on fire right now. You probably already are. You could be feeling drained, you might be done with some things and some people in your life, but there is a lot of fight in the Aries. They don’t quit so easily, and as long as they are standing they make for excellent competitors. This holiday focus on what you’ve already got rather than what you feel that you are missing. Show gratitude and appreciate all the blessings that are in your life. You’ve accomplished a lot.

When the Lights Go Out: The angry and frustrated side could come out when the lights go out. You know that part of you that just needs to take a deep sigh because things aren’t going according to plan. You could grow to be very stubborn over something, which you don’t want to be misperceived as wrongful thinking. It’s very hard for Aries to make mistakes and recognize them. If this happens, take a breath and ask yourself what’s at the root of your frustration? Aries, almost always knows that they want to move forward and be in a position where things are good and where they are on top. At the root, even if they can’t say it, if Aries cares about you, they want to resolve matters. They don’t want to dwell in the negativity. So, true to you, stay on the positive side as much as you can.

Taurus (Apr 20-May 20)

What’s Light for the Holidays: Things are really starting to go your way even for those of you who are feeling incomplete with yourself or your life. Like a puzzle piece that just won’t fit—you can’t fill the void. Though, you usually try to live a simple life that satisfies you. You have good company in your life and things to look forward to, but sometimes you just can’t be bothered with it. Typical Taurus will love this time of year as it means buying presents and going shopping. Taurus loves material things, but they get true satisfaction out of gift giving. Taurus just wants to feel at ease with everything and that they are capable of taking a practical approach to situations. They know how to bestow kindness to the ones they love, and they are loyal to the point of no return. Their generosity will not go unnoticed this season, unless of course Taurus is saving up for something. Taurus is known to be very smart with money when they want to be.

When the Lights Go Out: Taurus could be going through a lot but doesn’t always feel safe opening up. They will give vague details as opposed to getting into the whole story or giving out emotional description. They might just explode instead. This season, try to be more honest with yourself and the things that you want, but also the things that you don’t want. Don’t move so slowly Taurus—build it and build it now. You are very talented and if you really want something you can get it, just don’t be greedy. Be practical, as you are. Think about your future and where it is driving you. Think about all the things that you could do if you silenced your negative inner voice and just tried.

Gemini (May 21-Jun 20)

What’s Light for the Holidays: You will likely love this holiday time because it means a lot of holiday parties and socializing. You relish in a good conversation and don’t mind being the most popular and attractive person in the room. It is absolutely imperative for Gemini to be heard. They need to talk freely and openly. They hate to be cut off and really like to get their word in. If you’re a quiet Gemini this counts even more as you will usually have something important to say. Mental connections are key as Gemini is stimulated by intrigue and intelligence.

When the Lights Go Out: Your mouth could get you trouble. Sometimes you speak out of impulse and say the wrong thing at the wrong time. Open your heart to others but don’t make everything about you, even if you are a recluse Gemini. Don’t mistake it, Gemini is very generous in friendships and partnerships but sometimes they lack the empathy and the patience to deal with their problems. Gemini will hate going back and forth with someone, even more than they will dislike someone who taints their seemingly perfect picture. Do your best to stay on schedule, be ready to show up when you say you will and pick the right time and audience with which to disclose your emotional problems. If there’s space for everyone to openly share their feelings we can all help each other feel a little more loved.

Cancer (Jun 21-Jul 22)

What’s Light for The Holidays: Well first you have to get your holiday plans in order and once you do you’ll be setting yourself up for a good time. Don’t disregard the people that matter to you or bring something new into your life. Staying busy at this time will keep you occupied and ready to face tasks. The loophole is that you need to do stuff on your own time when your creative juices are flowing. While you’ve probably done well at a conventional job, it doesn’t mean that’s where you are happiest.

When the Lights Go Out: Cancer is a very moody sign hence they are the Crab of the zodiac, and yes they can be crabby. They will also be sensitive towards the weather and the cold. This could bring them into a depressive state which can be fixed especially with the help of some solid and exciting company. Cancer wants the wife/husband, kids and a dog. They love home and family and when they don’t have it they can become quite pessimistic - so surround yourself with your tried and trues to help you through this holiday season.

Leo (Jul 23-Aug 22)

What’s Light for the Holidays: You will likely be somewhere that you think is awesome, hanging out with good family and friends—living life to the fullest. You will be happy to share all your wonderful winter memories as Leo loves getting that social validation from others. If you are feeling well, you will have a jolly spirit at this time. You might even throw a holiday party. Leo is a chameleon and knows how to get festive for every season. They might even have a holiday conversation piece or two that they will rock, like a funny Santa pin that lights up.

When the Lights go Out: Leo gets really lonely even if their lives are full of love and people. At the same time, because of this, Leo has to learn to stand on their own two feet. Leo wants a hero (and to be the hero) but they have to rescue themselves. A lot of the time Leo is going through personal matters, but you would never know. It won’t show in their demeanor or outlook on life. Leo would rather be a leader and not show weakness to others. It’s important Leo finds a healthier way of dealing with their problems as opposed to just avoiding them or burying them way down deep. Leo, you can’t replace old happiness with new happiness overnight. Give it, and yourself, time.

 Virgo (Aug 23-Sept 22)

What’s Light for the Holidays: Many of you like this time of year. As a sign of service, Virgo likes to give back and can be quite generous when they are able to be. Virgo is using their voice more. It’s almost as If it was muffled beneath your throat just waiting to come out, and here it is. You have much of value to say, and the more you bring your opinions to the table, the more people will respect you. Some Virgos are hell-bent on making a difference. Never lose this passion, you amount to so much when you put yourself out there. You’ll work hard and get good results but there will always be something more that you are seeking. Your constantly thinking Virgo mind won’t let you give up so don’t. Even when pushed to the limit and totally maxed out, know that you can come back fighting once recharged.

When the Lights Go Out: People don’t know how hard you are on yourself. You make so many good things happen, but it’s almost as if you are never satisfied. You like what you have but you’re wise enough to see how it can be improved. Virgo is known for their sound opinions and in some cases their spot-on intuition. Virgo is going to be real with you so you better be able to handle the candid way in which they express themselves. Generally, Virgo is very warm-hearted to the people who matter to them, but this might be a time for Virgo to sit back, relax and self-reflect. Plan your next mission just don’t forget to show love to yourself. It’s one thing to say it or to speak it, but showing it through action makes the biggest difference. This is something Virgo recognizes, movement makes change, our talk is often too cheap.

Libra (Sept 23-Oct 22)

What’s Light for the Holidays: You try to maintain a good, harmonious spirit. There will be lots of plans especially if you are a Libra/Scorpio cusp. There will be plenty of time for leisure, which Libra loves they just have to get their affairs in order. Libra has so much potential to live in the moment and enjoy the excitement but they need to stay thinking ahead. Libra is capable of so much, but their tendency to be lazy or uninspired can hold them back from living out their dream.

When the Lights Go Out: This is when Libra is a giant flake and can’t make commitments of any kind. This is when Libra is slow to make choices. And this is when Libra doesn’t know what they want. Don’t string people along just for the fun of it or for the attention of it. Be sincere about your emotions. Libra has to get their emotions in check and reach a good place with themselves before they can really explore other people, especially romantically.

Scorpio (Oct 23-Nov 21)

What’s Light for the Holidays: Some of you aren’t very big fans of the holidays. You hate the fuss and would rather celebrate simply. Scorpio will be happy if they have their own family to celebrate the holiday with, but if Scorpio feels alone or isolated they will not be the biggest or greatest participant. Scorpio is practical and they feel like they give all year, 24/7. They don’t see the logic in one day, or eight days, devoted to giving presents. Scorpio already has so much on their plate. Christmas shopping for Scorpio is more of a chore.

When the Lights Go Out: You might get really quiet and refuse to talk about your true feelings. Scorpio is known for suppressing things that need to be brought to the surface. In reality, Scorpio just wants to feel special, but they can struggle to open up (or let in) and often they miss out on chances. Scorpio also needs to watch their moods and emotions. They might say something bitchy or be an asshole simply because they are dealing with their own stress. Do your best to monitor your emotions during the holiday season and take active steps to support your needs and keep your stress in check.

Sagittarius (Nov 22-Dec 21)

Illustrations by Amanda Sandlin

Illustrations by Amanda Sandlin

What’s Light for the Holidays: Sagittarius is always down for winter adventures but they prefer the sunshine. They want to be outside and will get discouraged when it is ugly out. Sagittarius will do their part to socialize this holiday, seeking out new things and perhaps meeting new people. It takes Sagittarius time to trust but with the right partner or friend Sagittarius is willing to share a little bit. Most of the time, if it’s personal or romantically involved, Sagittarius will not want to deal with it. Sagittarius lives off of optimism and doesn’t always know how to react properly to other people’s negativity.

When the Lights Go Out: Sagittarius will be in trouble if they isolate too much. They are better off exploring than snoring away in bed. Try not to be selfish and think about what really matters in life. It’s okay to go out of your way for someone sometimes, even if it means jeopardizing the way you prefer to do things. Do your best to get out there and surround yourself with folks who love you to help you through the holidays.

Capricorn (Dec 22-Jan 19)

Illustrations by Amanda Sandlin

Illustrations by Amanda Sandlin

What’s Light for The Holidays: Hopefully you can take some time off to enjoy yourself this winter. Capricorn, you give too much and work too hard. Socialize. Hang out with people who give to you what you give to them in return. Don’t let people take advantage of you. Your needs matter and it is time that they get met. Don’t just go along with the grain because it’s easier. Fight for your desires and forget about your past. What’s done is done. It is what it is, and all you can do is radically accept it. This doesn’t mean you have to like it or love, but you will have to accept it within in order to push forward.

When the Lights Go Out: You’re insecure when you don’t see the light. You back out of things that ask too much of you. Some days you are just downright exhausted or depressed, but you find your solace in having a good time. Keep doing the things you love with the people you love, but as mentioned, you have to say goodbye to your past. If you want to be happy, it helps to let go, cut off contact, deal with the issues and start fresh.

Aquarius (Jan 20-Feb 18)

What’s Light for the Holidays: So much to do so little time. A true Aquarius will want to do it all, capturing each, special adventurous moment through picture taking. In love, Aquarius will love this time of year as they’ve always wanted to be with someone during the holidays. They will enjoy taking part in fun activities with their partners. Single Aquarius will just make the most out of it and plan fun things to look forward to. Aquarius can be aloof so they have to be careful of this, pay attention to what’s around you, but don’t get too excited that your heart rate goes up. Take a breath. As second to last in the zodiac, things tend to come a biter later in life, but they do come, you simply gotta keep believing.

When the Lights Go Out: Aquarius will become opposite of the person they normally are. They can become frustrated. Aquarius doesn’t like people messing with them, and when they are upset with someone they can be somewhat mean and gossipy. Aquarius can also be the type to want it all, which can be hard to maintain. They do have high expectations and aren’t afraid to tell you about them. Do your best to stay true to yourself and your values this holiday season, even when the pressure hits.

Pisces (Feb 19-Mar 20)

What’s Light for the the Holidays: Pisces have a strong ability to get down at this time, especially if they are single. Partnered Pisces will fall back in love with the holidays (especially Christmas) and will want to engage in all the holiday affairs. Pisces is perceptive and find it easy to talk, which makes it rare that they will be at a holiday party with no one to converse with. Often Pisces are old souls which makes it easy for them to get along with and relate to people much older than them. Pisces simply needs to keep their attention focused on the the things best for them. They need to give things a chance and open their heart to the unfamiliar.

When the Lights Go Out:  As mentioned, Pisces can get down at this time. They might isolate from everyone and spend all their time in their room or they might be the life of the party. Highly generous, this sign will do what they can afford to make your holiday a little brighter. Pisces puts out love hoping to have it returned, only to learn that most of the world is incapable of expressing love. Pisces also has to watch their tongues and ability to get into emotional fights. Pisces just wants harmony but sometimes their honesty causes friction and hurts people’s feelings. People have a hard time swallowing the truth but Pisces isn’t afraid to give it to you and give it to you straight. Of course, they do not want to hurt anyone, but they generally do believe that truth is a freedom factor. Pisces doesn’t want guilt in their gut and will persistently do what they can to make it right.
